When You Give You Get

I never expected

To receive such a gift,

I was only extending a hand

But you never know where

Your rewards will come from,

Or when they’ll show up at your door.

I gave just a little,

Really not much

It seemed kind of natural and fun.

What came back was a flood,

Of emotion and passion

A ten fold return on a small act of kindness.

But it wasn’t expected

And it wasn’t as thought

Because what was returned,

I had owned all along.

I found something inside me that gives me great pride

A soulful spirit that wants to explore.

So I’m thinking and writing a lot of great thoughts

And sharing and walking on air.

For this small act of kindness has given to me

An outlook on life that is rare.
