It’s Life

I had the really great opportunity

To go back and look ahead

And see how things were

And how they could be

It started with some childhood glee

What you and I might call - two weeks

But in the next generation

Is something completely different

And from there it rolled

A little bit of action inside

Followed by some outside play

Pass, catch, shoot, score

And then a trip

To nowhere special

Just taking time

To wander free

From here to there

And shop to shop

We shared some time

Looking for the straight and narrow

When it was found

I think the conversation went something like

“This must be really boring”

And I answered, “It’s life”

A life I’ve missed

That once I’ve loved

Looking back

And looking ahead

The tooth fairy made an appearance later that day

But that’s a story for another day

In a life that seems rich

But not exactly complete
