Perestroika
I was invited to a very special party
It was at a secret place
Which was actually very public
Except that no one knows about it
There were beautiful women
Multiple languages
Dancers and Singers
Musicians and DJs
It was all very festive
Beginning with the jazz pianist and the bongo player
Who gave way to the dancer with the hula hoop
Gyrating to the music of a DJ
Followed then by the singer crooning in Russian
While the naked girl in the bathtub
Sprayed soap bubbles into the crowd
By whipping her blond mane from side to side
And everyone danced
On tables – on chairs – on sofas and the dance floor
On the main stage and a side stage
The party rocked all night
Libations flowed from go – shots of your choosing
With food that just kept coming
Platter after platter
A nonstop feast
This was a party in the Russian part of town
A very European vibe
With style to match
And a beat that just didn’t stop
It was over before sunrise on this night
Some nights apparently go into day
It was great fun
And a real eye opener
Seeing something so different
But right where I’ve lived
Invited behind the curtain
To just dance, dance, dance
