Rendezvous
I just spent some time
Chatting with a friend
Catching up on life
From a long time ago
She’s beautiful
And spiritual
On the inside
And most certainly when she smiles
I know this from memory
Because pictures are forbidden
She’s certain she’s not photogenic
My memory disagrees
We shared poetry
She writes -
And as you know
So do I
What was new was that she read
Some of my work aloud to me
And that was a first
Happily she seemed to love it
She read some of her work
And I must admit
Her work was deep and visual
And probably a bit better than mine
As she read
I could see imagery in my minds eye
Colorful and alluring
And definitely very physical
We covered so much
In our little catch up
Marriages and relationships
Websites and dramas
It went on for 2 hours
And then we had to stop
So much to absorb for now
And leaving a little something for the next time
And I hope the next time isn’t too far off
Because I found her exactly as she was
Kind and caring
And full of delight
I told her I had a message for her
Don’t be afraid to love -
I’m not sure why I said it
But it just came to me in the moment
And I know she’ll be just fine
And love will find its way
Because she casts sunshine and beauty
Even in the dark of night
