Uncle Alan
Uncle Alan died
It wasn’t supposed to be his time
But then again who really winds the clock?
His legacy was one of kindness
For me it was manifest in charity
Always giving
Of time and coin
He ran a foundation
Long before it had cache
When the work was to find a cure
And not just find a cocktail canapé
I remember as a youngster
The celebrities and stars that would show up for his outings
They would travel miles to get there
Sometimes rearranging schedules to make the event
All for the same reason-
“Alan called, I had to be here”
Hundreds came to his funeral
A fitting send off
Frank playing in the background
He would have loved it-
Each generation takes up a cause
The legacy of those that have come before
Uncle Alan touched thousands
Now we all have a chance to spread his kindness.
