Changing Gears

Parked the Porsche

Kind of had to -

She got all steamy

And blew a gasket

Seems like a metaphor

For things in my life

At the moment at least

And that’s just the way it is

Downshifting to the slow lane

No more zoom

A little less boom

And a lot more room

For things that matter

And people that count

Reservations of the heart

Not trendy restaurants

Just feels like it’s time

To change gears

Go back to walking down roads

And looking at the small things

Because it’s in the small things

That big things are discovered

And I think

I have a big thing or two left in me

So I want to choose carefully

And be certain and sure

Walking toward sunset

And a sunrise and more
