The Jury Box

I watched the film 12 Angry Men

Just recently

A mid-day excursion

We'll call it work

If you're not familiar

It's the study

Of a twelve man jury

And their own personal struggles

It sent me off thinking

About the time I sat on a jury

On a criminal matter

Some years ago

If you've been on a jury

You know

You don't soon forget the experience

I still remember more of those four days

Than many other days in my life

The discussions

The votes

The changes of the mind

The process was all too real

We weren't a great jury

Some counts acquitted

Some counts no decision

A hung jury

But what I remembered most

Was what drove the movie

The emotion of one’s convictions

Very powerful stuff
