The Middles
There was a line in Bohemian Rhapsody
Which kind of struck me
It’s was about friendship
For the times in the middles
The middles are those times
When things are quiet
Normal for you and me
But a giant pendulum swing if you’re a star
When you’re traveling on the road
And you’re living in a bubble
There isn’t much time for anything but work
Family, friends and a social life all get put on hold
Not that I’m a star
Or anything close
But doing the production thing
Has shown me how big the swings can be
And it’s the in betweens
The middles, when the circus train stops at the final station
And everyone goes their separate ways
That you find out what’s real
Who’s there for you the next day
Who are your friends
Where is your family
What’s the plan for today
I’ve never been on tour
For an extended run
Like nine months or a year
But I do know the middles
And they can be lonely
Because that’s when you realize
It’s just you
Not what you’ve done or accomplished
Just you and the ones that matter
Like your real friends and family
Who are always there
Especially in the middles
