Boardwalk Happy
I was on the Boardwalk
In AC the other night
Waiting for a friend
To meet me to go into a show
There was a band playing
Outside the venue
Rocking out the cover tunes
We all know and love
A funny thing happened though
When they broke into “Happy”
The Pharrell Williams tune
That has infected everyone
While their covers were getting some attention
When they started to play “Happy”
Everything changed
Everyone
And I mean everyone caught it
People starting dancing up the boards
The security team at the venue
Started dancing and swaying their arms
It was amazing
For a moment everyone was connected
People going into the show sang along
Families and friends caught the beat
There was an air of happy all around
I was struck by how this song still connected
And how it probably always will
A clever idea
With catchy lyrics
And an awesome hook
It just goes to show
Everyone wants to be Happy
Sometimes we just need a little reminder
