My Bestie’s Mom

My bestie’s mom

Bought me a drink

I had the same as she

A vodka up

To toast the night

One full of family

I laughed and smiled as the ladies fought

They parried words and thoughts

The rough and tumble slings of love

Dispatched with velvet gloves

The little man

One Mr. Matt

Had his own determined way

With grilled cheese and his well frenched fries

He ruled this dinner play

It happened after one long day

Where family was the core

A send off and an era done

But his was something more

So here’s to besties far and wide

Who show up in many ways

To make our moments meaningful

And brighten cloudy days
