Looking to My Left

So I looked to my left

No one was there

Just an empty seat

A promise unfulfilled

The line passed in front of me

Moms and kids

Yoga ladies in their Lulus

The teens and tweens

Beginning the weekend

I nodded back at a guy

Who nodded at me

I don't know why

Guess I look like a nodder

I'm on the way to the gym

Another day

Pushing around some iron

Blasting tunes in my ear buds

But it's the Saturday Starbucks

That has my attention

And the thought that maybe

When looking left

I should see a face

Smiling back

From behind the steam

That wafts up

From a caramel macchiato
