Full Stop

I was chatting it up with a friend of mine

We were catching up on this and that

And after a bit

He started to discuss his girlfriend

Now mind you

This particular friend

Is quite debonair

And is very charming with the ladies

As he spoke about his relationship

He was almost at a loss for words

As he tried to describe

How seamless it had all become

He couldn’t seem to find the words

So I helped him along

Full Stop

When he met his love - everything else came to a Full Stop

Yes that was it!

And from that moment to his surprise

All of his focus became about her

And the joy in his voice- confirmed his decision

And it was quite real

And so great to see

To be able to have that connection

He had found his person

He said it had only happened once before

And although he had dated

No one since his first love

Had stopped him in his tracks

A Full Stop

On a Tele-type machine

In the days of old

That was where the story ended

But in this case

It was just the beginning

Because from the Full Stop

Their new life began

Days together finding their way

Becoming one in each other

And while they have some big decisions just ahead

I’m sure they will do it together

Because when you push past that Full Stop
