Side by Side

They say that love is -

When one and one makes one

And I believe that

It’s the thing you strive to become

But what they never tell you

Are the things that need to come first -

The setup to success

The steps ahead of being one

And that’s where this is headed

The side by side

The being on an equal footing

Eye to eye

Nose to nose

The sharing things that you don’t even notice

Shared foods at restaurants

An eye for the same fashion

A strength that is matched -Inside and out

One on one

And that’s not to say it’s the same for everyone - It’s not

It’s completely different from person to person

And couple to couple

No two should be the same

But when it’s easy

And just there

When you don’t even think about it

Then I guess you’ve got a chance

And I’m not sure why it took me so long to see it

But it did

And now with that vision

I’ve seen the mistakes of the past

In Technicolor glory

So with eyes wide open

On a mission not to repeat the past
