The Orange Wall
A friend of mine just moved
Sort of-
She’s remodeling a house
That will become a home away from home
She invited me over
To have a look at the renovations
Before the furniture arrived
A look at the bones
Before the patina of style is added
We roamed through the empty house
Our steps echoing down the halls
Looking at fixtures and finishes-
It’s quite a lovely abode
When we got upstairs
We turned a corner into the master suite
And there it was
The orange wall
An orange wall
So what
Big deal
Sounds a bit fruity to me
But it wasn’t
It was beautiful
It struck me as art
And I could see everything around it
Although the room was empty
It was a perfect shade
Expertly painted
Deep and rich
But also classic and cool
I can’t remember being
So drawn to a wall
Because in the end
It’s just a wall
But the decision that produced that wall
Spoke volumes about my friend
Her passion
Her conviction
Her style
It’s a beautiful wall.
