Condiments

Husbands and Wives

Friends and Lovers

Ketchup and Mustard

Pickles and Mayo

Oh the condiments of life

Some have expiration dates

Others go on for a lifetime

All have a place on the shelf

The interesting part

Is deciding when its time

To clear the shelf

And bring in something new

I like ketchup and mustard

Not so much into mayo

I keep some salad dressing

But that’s about it

Some people have a hard time letting go

Their condiments are their life

And they keep them on the shelf

Until each jar is empty

Others just clear the decks

And toss it all to the wind

Mustard, Ketchup, Husbands and Wives

Everything must go

Except for the last bottle of wine

The one that has just a little bit left

That one is special

Because that one has the last sip

And the last sip

Trumps all condiments

It has a life of its own

And proposal for those that imbibe
