Erasers

I don’t ever

Think of goodbye as forever

I guess at one’s demise it counts -

But not with someone who’s still around

But I’m adjusting to that

You hear it in movies

“You’re dead to me now”

But not in real life

It’s strange

Wiping the board clean

Just like in elementary school

When class was done for the day

All the notes

All the assignments

Everything just washed away

Ready for a new day

I guess if you took good notes

Then some of the past is still there

And you can reflect upon it

But only in your mind

I took out the erasers

So it’s mine to own -

It’s just a little bit sad

As time rolls by
