At This Moment

I’ve done a lot

And accomplished very little

That seemed to be the theme

Of a film I screened recently

Brad’s Status

Which I had to pleasure of screening privately

Not because I knew anyone special

Just because I was the only one in the theater

It provoked a lot of thought

For a middle aged guy

Somewhere between here and there

Seeing opportunities missed and the roads not taken

It touched on many matters

Relationships

Family

Friendships

Mortality

Things you ponder

As you move through life

For me they were road marks

Looking at Relationships

Well I have an ex-wife

So that didn’t go so well

Then or now

And then there was Julie

Which one

It doesn’t matter

I seem to have fucked up on both

But with family

I’m blessed

Mine is great with so much connection

And I see so much goodness

Friendships

So many

In every shape and size

A plethora of love and understanding

Mortality

The one we all share

And again I’m so lucky

Because I am well

At least at this moment

And that’s the only moment that counts

The one you are in

The place that you share

The film tried to show

How little things matter

And love is around

Even when you don’t think you’ve done much

So look around

Double down with your lover

Reach out to your family and give them a hug

Call an old friend

And be thankful for what you have

It’s not so hard

But sometimes it gets a little foggy

But then a brisk breeze clears the day

And you can again see the sunshine

And smile
