The Grind

I like coffee

Usually start with day with a cup

Black - no adders

I learned that from my days visiting roasters

You can’t have a coffee

At a coffee roasting operation

And dump sugar and cream into it

That’s a big insult

But this isn’t about coffee grinds

No this is about the other grind

The daily grind

Of making it every day

And for a while I’ve joined that grind

Temporarily for sure

But doing the grind

Just the same

I’m on the road

Four hours a day

Back and forth to the Big Apple

Grinding out the miles

On the road

And on the rails

I’m in motion

From sun up to past sunset

And it’s good

I like the gig

But the travel makes it different

And that’s my grind

Just like at the roasters

Pick your grind

There are many to choose from

Subject to taste

But pick one and make it yours
